I believe..

I believe that, deep down, we all long for two things: to feel loved and connected, and to feel free to be who we truly are.

Not loved for what we earn, own, wear or how we look, but for who we are at our heart and in our essence. And not simply accepted by others, but able to feel safe and confident enough to be ourselves.

Two wings

I often think of this like a bird.

To fly, a bird needs two wings. In much the same way, I believe we need two things to feel balanced, truly safe, fulfilled and free:

The Wing of Love & Connection
The Wing of Authenticity

When we have both, we have the freedom to move through the world feeling connected to others while remaining authentically connected to ourselves.

But if we have tucked away one wing, we lose our balance.

How we learned to leave ourselves

Every child has a deep need for love, connection and belonging, alongside an equally deep need to be authentic.

But we all grow up in families with their own histories, dynamics and challenges. Sometimes, without even realising it, we learn that certain parts of ourselves are more acceptable than others.

We learn to be good.

To please.

To fit in.

To keep the peace.

To anticipate what others need.

And sometimes we begin to sacrifice our own authenticity in order to feel safe and connected.

These patterns can be incredibly intelligent adaptations when we are young. They help us belong and protect our relationships at a time when we depend on others for our safety.

The difficulty is that what once helped us may no longer serve us as adults.

We can find ourselves still living according to old subconscious patterns - putting other people first, struggling to say no, doubting ourselves, staying in relationships that don't feel right, or making decisions based on what we think others will want from us.

Coming home to yourself

I believe that much of our emotional wellbeing comes from finding our way back to ourselves.

Not becoming someone different.

Not becoming a perfect version of ourselves.

But reconnecting with the person we have always been underneath the adaptations, expectations and protective patterns we developed along the way.

Hypnotherapy offers a powerful way of working with the subconscious mind, where many of these emotional patterns and associations are held.

By working at this deeper level, we can begin to change the feelings, beliefs and responses that no longer serve us and create new possibilities.

As we reconnect with a deeper sense of safety and self-trust, something begins to change.

We become less driven by the need to please.

We can make decisions that are genuinely our own.

We can begin to set boundaries without feeling that we are abandoning others.

We can feel more comfortable being seen.

And we can build relationships from a place of authenticity rather than fear of rejection.

This is what I mean by coming home to yourself.

It is the feeling of being able to inhabit your own life more fully - with greater calm, confidence, warmth and freedom.

And perhaps, when both wings become stronger again, we can begin to fly.

Love and connection.

Authenticity.

A sense of belonging, while being fully ourselves.

Because life isn't a dress rehearsal.

If you feel that now is the time to come home to yourself and create a life that feels more truly your own, I'd love to hear from you.

Warmest wishes,

Kirsten

About me

For a Calmer, More Peaceful Inner World

In 2001, I completed my Advanced Hypnotherapy and Master NLP Practitioner training, and I've never stopped learning since.

For me, helping people create meaningful change is more than a profession. It's something I care deeply about.

Over the past 25+ years, I've had the privilege of supporting people through anxiety, self-doubt, childhood trauma, relationship difficulties, phobias, emotional patterns and the many challenges that life can bring.

My approach draws on Advanced Hypnotherapy, NLP, Inner Child work and Buddhist philosophy. I don't believe there is one approach that works for everyone. Instead, I draw on different methods according to what feels most appropriate for you and what you're experiencing.

At the heart of my work is helping people understand themselves more deeply, feel safer within themselves and develop greater freedom in how they respond to life.

I was born in Denmark in 1969 and moved to London in 2007, inspired by a love of new horizons and, if I'm honest, probably partly because my mum was English.

Today, I work exclusively online with clients in London and around the world. Having worked online for many years, I've found that many people appreciate the comfort, privacy and familiarity of having their sessions in their own environment.

Over the years, my work has also been featured in Tatler Magazine, where I was selected as ‘Best for The Overthinkers’ in the Good Shrink Guide, as well as on Sky TV in the UK and DR TV and TV3 in Denmark. I've shared insights on topics ranging from anxiety, weight loss and phobias to jealousy and confidence.

Life Beyond Therapy

When I'm not working with clients or learning more about psychology and emotional change, you'll usually find me swimming - or sea dipping with friends, whatever the season.

Being in the water brings me back to a feeling of presence, joy and connection. It's one of the things that helps me step away from the activity of the mind and simply be.

In fact, I love it so much that I've set myself the challenge of learning front crawl so I can swim the English Channel as part of a relay team in 2027. It's a rather ambitious goal, particularly given that I didn't learn to swim front crawl until recently!

If you'd like a little more inspiration for creating a calmer mind and living with greater ease, you're very welcome to follow me on Instagram. You can also follow my journey from one chaotic pool length of front crawl towards swimming the English Channel.

Taking the First Step

If you're struggling with anxiety, confidence, past experiences, relationship patterns or simply feel that you'd like to enjoy life more, you're very welcome to get in touch.

I'm always happy to have a brief conversation about what you're experiencing and whether working together feels right for you.

If you'd like to hear what it's like to work with me, you're also welcome to read my Trustpilot reviews.

Best wishes,

Kirsten
